Keys of the Kingdom

The keys of the kingdom symbolize authority, access, and responsibility. To hold the keys of a kingdom meant you had the authority to open and close access to, omit or deny entry. Jesus gave this kind of spiritual authority to His followers. The power to “bind” and “loosen” tells of the Church’s authority to discern what aligns with Heaven’s will. It’s not about personal preference- it’s about alignment with the heart of God. Through Christ, believers have access to God’s presence. We can bind what is destructive [sin, lies] and loose what brings life [truth, healing, and peace].

A Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving your church the keys to the kingdom. That we may use them in your authority not for our own gain but for your glory. Jesus show us what to bind and what to loosen according to your will. Use me as a gatekeeper of grace, truth, and love. Amen.
