Compassion

What is compassion? It is a deep, sympathetic knowledge of another’s suffering or misfortune and a strong desire to alleviate that pain. It goes beyond just feelings or sorrow for another’s hurt, and takes action to help. Compassion is not just an attribute of God, but a core part of who He is; A bridge between His holiness and our helplessness. God refuses to remain distant from our pain, choosing instead to carry it with us and ultimately carry it for us. I can honestly say His compassion has never failed me, even when I did not understand what was going on in my life. He was there taking care of me and the children, as only He could have done. He was always with us, preparing us, providing for us, and bringing us through to victory.

Lamentation 3:22

Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.

Matthew 14:14

And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and He healed their sick.

Psalms 145:8

For the Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger and great in mercy.
