What Have You Done For Jesus?
Let us look around us and see who Jesus wants us to help. There are so many ways to help people. We can be a friend: see if someone may need help picking up their medication, going shopping, a ride to the doctor, or needing help with food or other financial expenses. Even just a short visit because they may be lonely, or a phone call to see how they are. Elderly people enjoy being with people, but maybe they can’t get out on their own.
My dad passed away at the age of 97 years old and had polio in his right leg since the age of 4. He loved the Lord and didn’t know what he could do for Him being so immobilized. I suggested that he can still be used by God, calling the sick and praying for them. So many people said how my dad helped them by his phone calls.
I know someone who always helped a local homeless woman. Everytime she went food shopping the woman was there. She would talk to her, but the woman would not answer her, even when she gave her lunch. But one day the woman opened up to her and received God’s love from her, seeing someone really cared. Every house has a story; let us bring them the hope and love of our Savior.
Matthew 25:35-40
35- [Jesus said] “For I was an hungred, and ye gave Me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave Me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
36- Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
37- Then shall the righteous answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed Thee? Or thirsty, and gave Thee drink?
38- When saw we Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? Or naked, and clothed Thee?
39- Or when we saw Thee sick, or in prison, and came unto Thee?
40- And the King shall answer and say unto them, ‘Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.’”
James 2:15-16
15- If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16- And one of you say unto them, “Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled”; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
1 John 3:17-18
17- But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18- My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.
Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again.
Acts 20:35
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”
