Be Humble

God delights in a humble heart. He wants us to recognize our need for Him. This is necessary to align our will with His. The Word tells us that when we humble ourselves before God, He lifts us up and blesses us.

We can always look to Jesus as our example in life. Jesus showed humility and in doing so taught us to be humble as well. Jesus described Himself as meek and lowly in heart. Even though He is the Son of God, He humbled Himself and became a servant for all of mankind. During His last days, He even washed his disciples’ feet, teaching them that even the highest among them needed humility. If we humble ourselves, God will lift us up. What a wonderful God we serve!

Jesus, help us to have a humble heart before You. Remove our pride. Help me to walk gently, Lord, and serve others in love for Your glory. Create in us a clean heart, that we may be pleasing in Your sight. Amen!

Psalm 25:9

The meek will He guide in judgment: and the meek will He teach his way.

James 4:10

1 Peter 5:6

[Jesus said] Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Philippians 2:5-8

5-Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6-Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7-But made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant…

8-And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Matthew 23:12

[Jesus said] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
