Let Us Be Like David
Let us face the giants in our lives. David did not defeat Goliath because he was the strongest; He overcame his foe because he trusted in the Lord completely. When we fear the giants in our own lives, whether it be doubt, sickness, temptation, grief, hardship, or something else, we are to call on God rather than rely on ourselves.
Like David, let us remember that no giant is greater than our God! He goes before us, stands beside us, and strengthens us when we trust Him with all our hearts. For the battles belong to the Lord, and He will give us victory according to His will. We have to keep our eyes fixed on the Lord Jesus Christ, letting our faith be in Him and Him alone.
On the wall of my bedroom I put up the words, “The battle is the Lord’s,” so every day when I woke up, I would see them and be encouraged. The Lord helped me endure through many battles including my husband's death, a bad divorce, and chronic sickness. Jesus taught me to hang on for victory is ahead!
Thank you, Lord, for giving us courage to face the giants in our lives, not in our own strength but in the strength and power of Jesus Christ. Amen!
1 Samuel 17:45
Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
Psalms 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Joshua 1:9
[Thus saith The Lord] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
Romans 8:37
Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
