Habakkuh
Habakkuk 3:17-18
Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.
I put these verses first because they are so powerful. It is one of my testimonies to choose to rejoice in God even when everything around me seems to fall apart.
When I was alone and taking care of four children it was very hard. Sometimes food was scarce in our home, and I remember the Lord gave me this scripture. As I prayed for food to take care of my family, someone left two bags of groceries on our step. I was amazed by the moving of God’s hand, as I had not told anyone of our problems. This is just one of the times He took care of us.
Life can have its ups and downs; it wasn’t easy for Jesus to hang on the Cross, but He did His Father’s will. Even though we don’t understand, Jesus knows. Through our problems we get to know and understand God more deeply. As we walk in His knowledge, we grow in strength and wisdom. When we have problems we reach out to Him, search His Word, and grow deeper in our faith as He becomes more and more real in our hearts, minds, and lives.
Let us trust Him when we don’t understand. Even if the circumstances around us seem empty, let us be as Habakkuk- we will rejoice in the Lord! Faith is when we cannot see the answer yet. Amen!
