The Comforter

The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as The Comforter. He is given to us to serve as our helper, advocate, counselor, and guide. His role as our Comforter is one of the most personal aspects of having a relationship with the Lord. He abides with us, guiding us into all truth-  testifying to us of Christ, and bringing His words to our remembrance.

When Jesus ascended to Heaven, He did not leave us alone and comfortless; instead, He provided us with the Holy Spirit to dwell within us. No longer do we have to walk through our trials in our own strength. In our darkest hours, the Holy Spirit quiets our anxieties, settles our hearts when the world around us is in chaos, and ensures we are never truly alone, even in seasons of isolation. He helps soothe our emotional wounds, reminding us that we are deeply cherished children of the Most High. So, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid, for we are not alone.

John 14:16

[Jesus said] And I will pray to the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you for ever.

John 14:26

[Jesus said] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26

[Jesus said] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of Truth, which proceedeth from the Father, He shall testify of Me.

John 16:7

[Jesus said] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.
