Holiday Blues

There are many reasons for these feelings: shortness of money, no family, our loved ones are far away, or they’re a reminder of loved ones lost too soon. I was one of these people: I lost my husband on Thanksgiving.

I was taught from a little girl that you have to be married to be happy and this stayed with me when my husband died. But then my best friend made a profound statement to me, “You don’t need to be married, there are other things in life that can fill your heart and mind.” I had my children who filled my life, but I knew something was still missing. I found my cure when I gave my heart to Jesus. I had something more to live for in serving Him.

By serving Him, I learned how to serve others in need. What an awakening it was when the scales fell off of my eyes; I saw so many hurting just like me. He took those feelings away from me, and He made me see through His eyes. I didn’t see my own hurts anymore, but the hurts of the lost and dying world.

Satan wants us to keep our eyes on ourselves. Instead, look around, go into hospitals, nursing homes, orphanages, children’s hospitals and count your blessings. Look past yourself and reach out with God’s love to touch someone; maybe a neighbor, a friend, or even estranged family. Go say hello or see if they need any help.

My heart is for underprivileged children and elderly; they are so helpless. It was always my dream to open a home to help them. Ever since I was very young and I saw abuse of God’s most precious, I wanted them to know how there are people who really care and love them-how Jesus died on calvary for them. He cares and did not forget them. Let us take our eyes off of our problems and seek the Master's hand.

Have a blessed holiday in Jesus and remember, we are never alone because Jesus is always with us; just call and He will answer. He will help us go forward, stopping the devil from bringing us down. So reach out to your fellow man with the love of Christ and the world will be a better place to live; He died for us all.

Isaiah 9:6

...and His name shall be called…The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 26:3

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.

Luke 2:14

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men!
