Deep Sorrow

This blog is for those who are grieving, to know they do not have to carry their burdens alone. I know because I have been there; I experienced some of the greatest sorrow I have ever known when I lost my husband and the father of my children. I want those who are hurting to know the scriptures are just not words on paper; they are living reminders that God is here with us, all the time and in every situation. He tells us He knows our pain and our sorrow, and He will lift us up and comfort us. He understands and has compassion on us. He walked on this Earth as a man and felt sorrow and pain. He is alive today and because of that we can have victory and healing in our hearts.

Sometimes, past sorrow comes before me and my heart becomes so heavy with grief. My sorrow feels brand new and yet carries the weight of many years all at once. I try to understand why my husband died, but the only answer that comes is, “Trust me, for I am God.” That is enough, and we must stand firm on His Word so our emotions do not consume us! It is hard to trust when you are so deep in pain, but Jesus knows what is best for us. We have to learn to let go of our pain and give it to God. He will wipe away every tear in His perfect time. Today’s scriptures meet us in our pain and remind us in hope that God is ever near us and on His throne.

Psalm 34:18

The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalm 42:11

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God…

Psalm 55:22

Cast thy burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain thee…

John 11:35

Jesus wept.

Isaiah 53:3

He [Jesus] is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from Him: He was despised, and we esteemed Him not.

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
