I Believe in Prayer
If my parents and grandparents had not prayed for me I would not be here today. For the prayers of the righteous availeth much, so never stop praying for your children and loved ones. Today’s verses emphasize the significance and power of prayer! I know I would not have made it through without many people's prayers. I was only saved a year before my husband's death. I had two children and one on the way when I was 25 years old. My life was turned upside down. In an Italian family the husband is the head of the household, now I had to be the head and sole provider. I had no formal education because my husband wanted me to quit school, we were engaged when I was 16 years old. He wanted me to stay home with the children. When his death occurred, my church showered me in prayer and encouragement. When it comes right down to it I had to get up off of the mat and fight back all my emotions and stand on God’s word. I was frightened and did not have much faith in myself to stand up and fight back. That is when He took over, He sent a good Christian friend who prayed me through to victory and Jesus lifted me up and put my feet on the Kings highway. It didn’t happen overnight, but I was so in love with Jesus that I wanted to please Him in all things. Through His love and mercy, here I am today praising him- not perfect, just forgiven. Sometimes I can hear a song or see a place, even see my husband in my children's faces. It conjures memories of the past that try to bring me down, but that is when I go to my prayer closet and start praising Him for all He has taken us through! If Jesus cried out to His heavenly Father in prayer at the garden of Gethsemane, how much more should we cry out to Him? I love You, Jesus!
