Learning The Heart Of Our Parents

Let us try to understand our parents’ part in life and their role inside the family. For myself, it took becoming a parent for me to truly learn their part. I understand them more now, and I am sorry because what I have learned could have made me a better daughter then. I wasn’t bad, but I just didn’t understand their behavior many times. I tried the best I could to help them in all the ways I was able as I grow older and wiser. When I got saved, I realized only Jesus could supply their every need and wipe every tear. He knows every hurt and need, and will never leave us alone. I am only flesh, but He is the Spirit of God. Living my life after His example is my desire.

Learning the heart of our parents according to Jesus includes honoring them, loving them, caring for them when they can no longer care for themselves, and truly humbling ourselves enough to be able to understand their responsibilities that God has given them in the family dynamic. Showing genuine love is more than words, but demonstrated through actions. Even Jesus submitted to His earthly parents during His youth, setting an example of humility and obedience. Even while He was suffering on the cross, He lovingly provided for His mother’s care. Let us understand our parents in love, caring for them in practical, meaningful ways, and forgive  one another as Christ forgives those who humbly repent and change their behaviors. I love my parents and now that they are in Heaven, I miss them more, but I know one day I will see them again!
